CURACAO GOVERNMENT AND GOVERNOR INVOLVED IN LAWSUIT

Willemstad, Curacao. Three Curacao Unions: (CUN): (1.) NAPB (Nationaal Algemene PolitieBond, aka National General Police Association), (2.) SAP (Sindikato Ambtenaren di Polis I Kadena Hudisial, aka Union of Police Officials and Judicial Chain) and (3.) STrAF (Sindikato di Trahadornan di Aduana i Fiskalia, aka Union of Customs and Taxation Workers) have all filed a lawsuit against the Curacao government, the Minister of Justice; in the Eugene Rhuggenaath cabinet; Mr. Quincy Girigorie, and the Curacao Governor; Mrs. Lucille George-Wout, since 2021. The lawsuit originated from, a disagreement between the three aforementioned unions against the government, based on the belief that the Police Chief; Mr. Jules Ilario, was appointed to the position as Chief Of Police (COP) in a unusual manner which is against the law and procedure.
IS THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT CORRUPT?
According to the three (3) unions, the appointment was made without a proper application procedure, thus misleading other police colleagues. According to the unions, people who might also be interested in that position were unable to apply.
Apparently; all three unions believe that the government had missed the opportunity to appoint someone sufficiently qualified; who can reliably make a difference for Curacao.
The unusual situation apparently shows that the Ministry of Justice appointed Ilario illegally and alleges that the justice department breaks the laws and appoints people without following the law which, in this case, also involves the governor, alleging corruption. On May 23rd, 2022, the judge will decide whether Jules Ilario's appointment should be reversed.
