Willemstad, Curacao. In 2016; the former owner of Curacao's Campo Alegre brothel: Mr. Robert de Groot, was sentenced to eighteen (18) months in Curacao's prison; SDKK. The seventy plus (70+) year-old man was suspected by the Public Prosecution Office aka (OM) of being involved with and participating in a criminal organization and of laundering money and goods.
THE COURT CASE
Allegedly; the Dutch businessman had used the Curacao brothel: Campo Alegre, to launder drug money and was involved in illegal trafficking. Through his company; Campo Alegre, he was alleged that he invested about four million guilders (fl. 4,000,000) in the renovation of Campo Alegre during the late 1990's and early 2000's.
The 2016 case involving this Dutch businessman and Campo Alegre was dubbed "Tartaros". The General Court, deemed that the evidence submitted on behalf of the Curacao's Public Prosecution Office (OM) were substantiated.
Between 1998 and 2009; this Dutch Businessman; allegedly had laundered millions of Euros, Netherlands Antillean guilders and US Dollars. The investigation proved the linkage of:
- The renovation of the brothel (1998-2000).
- The purchase of Plaza Hotel in Punda.
- The purchase and sale of a villa in the Jan Sofat neighborhood.
- The purchase and renovation of the motor ship: "Seamaster" and;
- The investments in Baya Beach.
Allegedly; Mr. de Groot, was also involved in (narcotic) drug shipments and drug trafficking.
In 2013, the court determined that the Dutchman had to pay the country of Curacao; a sum of only; fourteen-point-two million guilders (fl. 14,200,000).

What does being a Pimp mean? According to the Dictionary, a Pimp is: "a person, especially a man, who solicits customers for a prostitute or a brothel, usually in return for a share of the earnings; a panderer; procurer."
