Following the news, that the price of oil and gas will be increased, the President of the Syndicate for the United Transportation (STU) (Sindikato di Transporte Uni): Mr. Andres Everitz, expressed his pain and concerns. THE INTERVIEW During the interview, Everitz expressed: “This is a devastating hit for the public transportation and for the people of Curacao. Since the last month, when I gave information, I said that, this month, the hit would be worst! Nobody took what I said into consideration! Because, maybe, in the community we starting to look who is the one speaking, for what is said to become important! Today, here we woke up where they say to you about this drastic rise. This thing is something that was never seen before! Something that a government can not do! Curoil, which is selling the product, BTP (Bureau Telecommunicatie en Post) who needs to oversight what Curoil is sending for that factors to be correct and the government who needs to reject it, say no, that price, the people can not cover it! The government take it, Lisandro Cijntje as Minister of Economy takes it, go to the Council of Minister with it, comes out here with a an increase, which he knows is devastating for the people and in between, when you are telling them that they are doing something wrong, they don't care! What is happening people of Curacao? The government does not have the interest in anything! Because the government came and made a setup with Curoil and with BTP to show you that there is war in Ukraine and Russia and that you must understand that in between that there is war between Ukraine and Russia, the Curacao people needs to pay increase every month!” He continued: “What I propose is that the government must be honest with the people! They are not honest with the people!” He went further: “Because, Curoil has said long time, that they purchase with 3 months of reserve, afterwards, the 3 months became 2 months, and now all of a sudden the 3 months became 1 month. Which means, they are busy getting different information each time. The biggest problem is that, they don't come forward to say why Curoil did sold the ship called: Red Majestic! I personally, as the STU president asked where is the Red Majestic ship? Then I got to know in the meeting we had there, that the ship was sold. Today, if the ship is the problem, with transportation where everything become expensive, and it was told to my person, that Red Majestic was sold because doesn't make money, they not earning money, they were loosing money with Red Majestic! And today if they had Red Majestic, maybe it would have helped the people of Curacao!” WHAT WILL THE BUS DRIVERS DO? According to Everitz: “What we will do, I am tired of hearing what is it that we are going to do! What we all here in Curacao are going to do? Including yourself! Because, it can't be like this, that the government does not have money for a commission that he rose, did an investigation on the commission, we arrived to a agreement of Terms of Reference. I have it right here in my hands for the government to come forward with! When we went on a meeting before yesterday (23th March) at MEO (Ministry of Economy), we got to know from the department who represents MEO and deal with the meetings with all the stakeholders to do this investigation, because the government does not have money! If the government does not have money, how can a leader go to Dubai? To spend thousands and thousands of guilders? How can it be the government did not have money, where the government paid for a QR Code, five hundred thousand (500.000) which I questioned that time!” He went further: “It is half a million! And something that involves all the people of Curacao, for us to get a better quality gasoline and more affordable. Today the government, the same government who needs to manage, where the people is saying that they don't want a rise (oil/gas prices), when the war came, he let it be!” He expressed that the bus drivers will not allow such things. He continued: “Look, I can tell you like this, the time has reached where all of us in this country to take actions. In 2008, the government said, sign the agreement with us.
