Willemstad, Curacao. February 3rd, 2022. The Curacao Public Prosecution Office (OM) is currently monitoring threats against Prime Minister: Mr. Gilmar Pisas (political party MFK). Pisas has recently been subjected to a barrage of insults and threats from various sectors and members of the community.

 

WHY THE PUBLIC PROSECUTION OFFICE TOOK ACTION?

Prime Minister Pisas appears to be in contact with the Curacao Public Prosecution Office about probable security measures. According to the Curacao Public Prosecution Office, whether or not a report must be filed is decided on a case-by-case basis.

The Movement for the Future of Curacao (in Papiamentu; Movementu Futuro Korsou MFK) political party, called on the Curacao Public Prosecution Office to act against the threats yesterday. Mr. Amerigo Thodé, the leader of the MFK Party, expressed his disappointment that the authorities had done nothing to address the complaints so far. “These folks give a poor example for the children of how the community regards politicians,” he said, among other things.

A 62-year-old man was sentenced to community service at the end of last year after threatening former Prime Minister: Mr. Eugene Rhuggenaath (political party PAR) and Curacao epidemiologist: Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth.
