Willemstad, Curacao. Curacao human rights capabilities seems to be getting worst, not only for locals but for the Venezuelans refugees.

STATISTICS
According to the figures from the International Organization for Migrants (IOM), which were confirmed by the Response for Venezuelans (R4V) coordination platform, Curacao has 26,000 Venezuelans that came to the island in recent years escaping the poverty and misery in Venezuela. Currently Aruba has 16,000 Venezuelans. Colombia has more than 1 million Venezuelans.
Currently more than 3 million Venezuelans have left their country in hope of a better life.

HUMAN RIGHTS NOT A PRIORITY IN CURACAO?
Currently there are 33 Venezuelans who went on hunger strike one more time, because, apparently they are not allowed to be deported by order of the European Court in Strasbourg France.

CURACAO ACCUSED OF HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS LAST YEAR?
Last year Amnesty International published a report (Detained and deported: Venezuelans receive no protection in Curacao), which was given attention but appears to have little effect towards changes in human right exercise in Curacao.

Curacao government did took note of the report from Amnesty International in which the international organization stated that the Government of Curacao denied Venezuelans the international right to protection.

CURACAO GOVERNMENT DISAGREE WITH THE REPORT?
When the report came out, Curacao government did not agree with the conclusions of Amnesty International report. Apparently Curacao government did regret the perception that, human rights are being violated on the Island of Curacao in connection with the migration crisis of Venezuelans.

It was reported that the government did agree, that there were room for improvement on aspects such as communication about the protection procedures and detention facilities.
Apparently last year, Curacao government did took concrete actions towards these procedures.

THE FUTURE OF THE VENEZUELANS IN CURACAO
The 33 Venezuelans refugees do not know what are their destiny, they are being detained with imprisonment in the foreigners barracks of the island of Curacao prison.
Since the pertain authorities do not have the answer on the prospect of deportation for the Venezuelans, the Venezuelans want to be able to await the Curacao minister of Justice, Quincy Girigorie’s decision about their stay and freedom.
It appears that undocumented detainees at Curacao prison are treated differently from those who are detained on the basis of criminal law.

CURACAO CORNER
A Montaña Abou resident is claiming that; “those illegal Venezuelans are being abused by Curasalenos and especially the Dutch, in the renting are.”
“Venezuelans and Dutch also abuse Curasalenos.”
“All that the government need to do is listen to the loud music and they will find the illegal Venezuelans and the landlords that abuse the Venezuelans and the system, I believe that majority of those abusers are lawyers by the way, male layers, female lawyers, short lawyers, tall layers, Dutch, Latino Dutch, Surinamese, and you can pick and mix them.”

“On Friday night you can be for sure that these people are the one playing loud music to sell alcohol and do illegal prostitution. So, I do not know how is it that the police can't do their job, they are protecting these powerful people who owns the illegal brothels, that is what it seems to me.”
“As I have seen, as long as the government continue to support these illegalities and corrupt lawyers, they will continue to abuse the Illegal Venezuelans.”

“That is tyranny, it is corruption. I think nothing is being done because the government friends are the one with power abusing these people.” “And it seems like most of these lawyers belong and support two particular political parties, you guess which two.”

“If you call the police and tell them what is going on, they will show up late and by that time, the owner passes randomly and at the end of all of it, nothing happens, and you will be left out there being the troublemaker and the landlord takes up vengeance on the tenants who she feels may have called the police. So at the end of the day the ilegal Venezuelans knows that the landlord protect them from the police and the Curasalenos.”
“The Venezuelans continue to abuse the Curasalenos because they know as long as they pay their money the landlord will not call the police to get them deported.”
“I think Curacao government practice modern slavery on society, if you think I am stupid and what I am saying is fantasy, you are wrong, I know what I am saying, because you can hear all these things in the hood, I am from the hood where nothing is a secret.” “I have seen everything.”
