COURT CASE AND INVESTIGATION WILL CONTINUE TO FIND OUT HOW THE CURACAO POLICE STATION LOST THE 600600 KILOS OF COCAINE DURING A ROBBERY AT THE STATION By: JJosephaNews Reading Time: 1:00 mins. Twitter: @JJosephaNews Willemstad, Curacao. On Wednesday, April 6, 2022, a first session was held at the General Court in response to the INEX 2.0 investigation into the theft of narcotics from the 'Rio Canario' police station (drug robbery of 600 kilos from police station). Due to the great importance and impact of the case, the investigative team in which members of the KPC (Korps Politie Curacao = Curacao Police Force) and the RST (Het recherche samenwerkingsteam = The detective cooperation team) work together are still intensively investigating the theft that took place on the night of 13 to 14 October 2018. COURT CASE According to the Public Prosecution Office (OM): "At this hearing, the Public Prosecution Service announced that 8 suspects have been arrested in the investigation so far, 5 of whom are still in pre-trial detention. Two suspects, one of whom is a former police officer, are accused of having played a role in carrying out the theft. The other suspects are accused, among other things, of being involved in the trafficking of the narcotics seized during the burglary. The General Court has suspended the handling of the cases today at the request of the Public Prosecution Office and adjourned it until June 8, 2022 because the investigation has not yet been completed. A pre-trial hearing will be held on June 8, 2022, at which the defense can make its wishes known. The case is expected to be heard in August."
