Dr. Eduard Braam, a Member of Curacao Parliament (political party MFK), has challenged the judge's decision in his legal case. The former candidate-justice-minister and coalition MP is appealing a decision that precludes him from being nominated to the ministry. CURACAO MINISTER INTEGRITY LAW Dr. Braam was convicted of fornication with a patient (16 years old) more than twenty (20) years ago. Apparently, he argued that he was not sentenced at the time and can still become a minister. According to the judgment, Dr. Braam is ineligible to be sworn in as a minister because of the Curacao screening "Integrity Law". That is why Dr. Braam has now filed a notice of appeal with the court. Within six (6) weeks, he must file his appeal claim. Article 7, of the Curacao Integrity Law: 1. The cabinet formator does not or does not promote a nomination for the nomination of a candidate if he is not compatible with the outcome of any investigation referred to in Article 2, first paragraph, and furthermore if the candidate: a. has been convicted of a crime; b. suspect is in an ongoing criminal investigation into a crime; c. or a business of which it can be classified as owner or in which it has a majority interest, has been granted a moratorium or has been declared bankrupt; d. does not or does not make arrangements in time to distance his business interests or fail to give up his ancillary positions and ancillary activities; e. has not made an arrangement regarding the payment of taxes or premiums or has not or not fully complied with such arrangement; f. used substances prohibited by the Opium National Ordinance 1960. 2. If a candidate is not nominated for appointment as minister, the cabinet formator will inform him in writing as soon as possible, stating the reason for this.
