INVESTIGATION FOR POLICE CONTROL AND ABUSE ON MARNIX COLLEGE STUDENTS COMPLETED

Willemstad, Curacao. March 22nd, 2022. The Landsrecherche Curacao (National Criminal Investigation Department) has launched an extensive investigation into the police check on September 7 last year at the Marnix College. Involved students and some parents were heard as witnesses by the Landsrecherche Curacao . Teachers and other involved have also been heard . After hearing from seven suspects, the investigation has been completed and submitted to the Public Ministry (OM).
THE INVESTIGATION BY THE AUTHORITIES
In an official update, the Curacao Public Prosecution Office (OM) declared the following: "The investigation has shown that a so-called "thorough inspection" has taken place in the board room of the Marnix College. It has been confirmed that three police officers have instructed more than 25 students to undress themselves (partly). The OM has determined that the legal basis for this "thorough control" was missing. The actions of these three police officers will therefore be presented to the judge of the Court in the First Building of Curacao . The meeting date is not yet known.
A fourth officer has also investigated some students without a legal basis. This investigation, however, may be less intrusive than the actions of the other three officers. The action of this officer will therefore be disciplined by the Police Corps Curacao. Within the investigation, three more people were further involved as suspects were identified. The investigation, however, did not show that they were guilty of criminal offenses. That's why their business is.
Involved parents and students have been informed about the results of the investigation by phone and in writing as far as possible. They are being put in the opportunity to get a closer explanation. The suspects, the school board and KPC were also informed. This is an ongoing criminal investigation to be brought to the judge. This means that the OM coverage will be retarded.
The Landsrecherche is an independent tracking agency with a special task. She focuses on tracking crimes committed by (semi) government officials. The Landsrecherche operates mainly in the field of criminal behaviors that seriously affect the integrity of the law enforcement and the integrity of the public administration."
