BEFORE DAMEN SHIPREPAIR ARRIVED IN CURACAO, THERE WERE PROBLEMS AT THE CURACAO DOK MAATSCHAPPIJ (CDM)

Willemstad, Curacao. Curacaose Dok Maatschappij (CDM) management in 2016-2017 allegedly mistreated many contractors, including workers. At that time, the main shareholder, which was the government of Curacao, allegedly pushed and pressure for the Damen company to establish itself on the island.
CURACAO DOK MAATSCHAPPIJ (CDM) COURT CASES?
Abuse appears to have featured in many civil court cases brought by contractors against Curacao Dok Maatschappij. In Civil Treatment, it transpired that the former director Mr. Getmar Caldera and others promised the contractor directors of the Companies and their administrators that they would cancel their debts, as stated by different witnesses in the civil court. The debts were millions, this happened so that the government could have complied with Damen.
In March-June 2016, there was a meeting between the Dok contractors, when CDM was bankrupt, where Curacao Dok Maatschappij was preparing for Damen to come to Curacao. The meeting was for Curacao Dok Maatschappij, to explain the value of the million debt (back-payment).
UNEMPLOYED CONTRACTORS
During the meeting, Dok management proposed that the Contractors take 50% of the payments. The contractors denied the proposal, then in a meeting Egmar Caldera asked the contractors to continue working and that they would also be paid, but supposedly, the payments never came and Damen did not reach the Dok until now. It appears that after the incident many of the contractors became unemployed.
