20 MILLION EUROS TO INVEST IN CDM

Willemstad, Curacao. Regarding the dock from Damen, that ended up sunken in the ocean, which Damen needed to get out of the ocean, but had not, the present Curacao Minister of Economic Development; Ruisandro Cijntje (PNP political party), informed the public that the government told Damen Shiprepair company, that the company has a limited period of time to take the dock out of the ocean, meanwhile; the former Curacao Minister of Economic Development; Steven Martina; stated that The Damen Company had plans of doing many things!
DAMEN'S SUNKEN DOCK WILL STAY LONGER IN THE OCEAN
During an interview, Steven Martina:
- He was the former Curacao Minister of Economic Development in the Eugene Rhuggenaath Cabinet of 2017 to 2021; which was a "basic coalition force" of PAR-MAN-PIN, before Suzi Camelia-Romer lost her support in Parliament from her single PIN member representative; Rennox Calmes; who went rouge and went on to represent and lead the political party Work For Curacao (TPK) in the 2021 National General Election for SVC-09,
- He is presently a Curacao member of parliament in The Staten van Curacao's ninth (9th) Session (SVC-09) of 2021 to 2025,
- He has been the leader of the political party MAN since 2017,
- He is the son of MAN's political party executive; Dominico Felipe "Don" Martina (87 years old on May 1st); the two time former Prime Minister of Netherland Antilles in the periods: (1979-1984) and (1986-1988).
Steven Martina; explained in a radio interview; that there is a plan for the matter, including investments. Martina declared; “There is 20 million euros available, which Curacao can invest in the CDM Holding. So that CDM Holding can comply with the agreed investments that it must do. So that the dock can function in a efficient and modern form.”
Regarding information in the community, it has been said, that the Damen company will close its door, regarding the rumors, Martina went further; “I do not have that information. The information that I do have, is, when we (the PAR-MAN-PIN government) were there, we worked on a rescue plan for dock A, dock B and the floating dock. Which means that the Dok Maatschappij in full force! What happened in July 2021, is that the floating dock, the big one got in an accident. That accident make it, that for now, that, that floating dock can not go in operation. That made it that the rescue plan that was there to rescue the docks, now became dock A and dock B only. Which means, that Dok Maatschappij infrastructure became much smaller. Before it had three docks to repair boats, now it has two docks to repair boats. It can be said, that, that was the beginning of the recue plan that is right now on the table, that has a duration of three (3) to four (4) years. After the 3 to 4 years, when the companies gather strength, I mean Damen and CDM Holding, then, we can work on the plans to see how to pick up the floating dock. Which means that, that is the process of the rescue plan to stand up on foot!"
The previous Curacao's Economic Minister iterated; "I can tell you; up to where we were responsible (the PAR-MAN government) , which was until June (2021), in reality after the election (19 March 2021), already we were demissionary, but in any case up to June, we (MAN political party; Steven Martina) had the Ministry of economy. After that, it was the new cabinet (MFK and PNP government). So in any case, that is the process for a rescue of a vital company in your economy. As it is in a lot of place worldwide, when you have vital companies, where you see that the companies experience a hard hit because of factors that were not in their hands. Like the Venezuelan Embargo, the Oil Refinery shut down and COVID, it is not something of bad management of a company, there are things that are big internationally which affects you. At the moment when you realize that these things are happening, you come up with a rescue plan and as the government, you look on how you can help to rescue the sector!"
The former Minister of Economic Development Martina; "In this case, these plans were made so that CDM Holding can comply with its obligations as a whole and Damen to comply with its obligations as a whole. What is on the table at the moment, as we understood (from the MFK-PNP government) is that the rescue plan is there, but, with only dock A and B, at these moments its not ok. If everything goes well; from here to 4 or 5 years, the dock rescue will happen. As such, that has its consequences, in this case, as I understood, there is consequences for a number of jobs (people loosing jobs) as well!”
