INVESTIGATION INTO HUMAN AND DRUGS SMUGGLING

Willemstad, Curacao. In the early hours of the weekend (Saturday), the Curacao Coast Guard team intercepted a boat, where they found what appeared to be a prohibited substance with a group of undocumented immigrants.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS WERE DETAINED

The coast guard immediately directed this boat ashore. The narcotics department and the immigration department assisted the coast guards in taking the illegal persons to the illegal detention center (Barak di illegal) for further investigation.

FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS

Spokesperson and Communications Advisor for the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard; Ms. Shalick Clement confirmed this incident, but she was unable to elaborate on the illegal substance found on board. Apparently, the investigation is still ongoing to confirm the illegal substance, as well as human trafficking.
