Willemstad, Curacao. It was reported that The Netherlands Minister of Foreign Affairs; Stef Blok; now feels that the islands of Aruba, Curacao and St. Maarten are suffering from the developments in Venezuela.

THE EFFECTS ON CURACAO

Apparently, according to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Curacao you can feel the effects of the situation in Venezuela very well, especially in the field of public health, education and in the field of crime. The minister appeared to be stating that; it was important that the countries within the Kingdom are aligned with regard to Venezuela.

(This video is a 2009 interview, of the 2013 assassinated Curacao political leader; Helmin Wiels, about Curacao and the Netherlands which involves the situation of Venezuela, the US and Colombia.)

THE VENEZUELAN FRUIT VENDORS REPLACED WITH CURACAO FARMERS
Curacao fruit market also appeared to have been affected. It is unknown if the expected last five Venezuelan fruit boats will be returning back to sell in Curacao. After Nicolas Maduro order to close the borders, it was reported that the Minister of Foreign Affairs will not go to Caracas Venezuela, to ask Maduro to open the borders again. It was said that local entrepreneurs will be selling fruits at the market in place of the Venezuelans.

BLOK STATES MILITARY ASSISTANCE TO PROTECT CURACAO IS UNNECESSARY
Last Tuesday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Stef Blok; also called the situation in Venezuela "worrying".
There is tension in Curacao, and according to the Dutch Minister, the violence must be prevented from escalating in the country.
In the press conference; and in the presence of the Curacao Prime Minister; Eugene Rhuggenaath; Stef Blok argued for a peaceful, political solution in the sense of free and transparent elections. Minister Blok; appears to be of the opinion; that it does not help now that Netherlands will send military equipment to protect the Dutch Caribbean islands, that military deployment in the Netherlands is therefore not an option. The minister repeated this several times during the press conference.
