Willemstad, Curacao. The Curacao Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) had a quotation on their website referring to wikipedia information. Quoting the following:
“The poverty line is the smallest amount of money a person or a family needs to live on; to buy what is needed. People who are below this line are classified as poor. The poverty line is different depending on how many people there are in a family. This is because it costs more to buy food and supplies for more people. Source Wikipedia]”
This simple quote raises some questions to where does CBS gets their definition and statistical definition for their formulas from? Is it also Wikipedia?
The Curacao Central Bureau of Statistics; CBS; is responsible for meeting the country’s statistical information needs. When visiting the CBS site; it displays: “This website offers insight in all statistical facts about Curaçao Our aim is to provide easy access to statistical data collected and analyzed by the bureau.”
In 2011 there was a National Decree on the Central Bureau of Statistics and its Mission (Statistical Act 2011, no.17).
It was done by The Minister of Justice Elmer Raynold "Kadè" Wilsoe and former Minister of General Affairs, Gerrit Fransisco Schotte, issued on the 27th May 2011.
CBS was assigned the following tasks:
CBS was assigned the following tasks:
- statistical research on behalf of government institutions
- science statistical research
- private institutions statistics research
- publishing or having published statistical information and or other statistical products generated
CAN YOU QUOTE WIKIPEDIA AND BE A TRUSTED GOVERNMENT SOURCE?
CBS also said on their website that they perform research and services on behalf of third parties, without distorting competition.
Part of CBS vision is; “intends to develop itself into the only officially appointed organization in Curaçao to providing high quality statistical products.”
By Curacao Central Bureau of Statistics; CBS; quoting Wikipedia as its primary referenced source; they have evidently appear to be discrediting the authenticity and reliability of their very own published data and the integrity of the information which CBS produces, which at times seemed to have been questionable. In general many believe that a national department/agency such as Curacao Central Bureau of Statistics; CBS; should not have Wikipedia as the primary reference source for Governments in general! This is a very slippery slope that Curacao as a country is approaching if we are depending on Wikipedia.org as a primary source of information.
Could this be the reason why Curacao’s economy is failing miserably; because the executive branch and legislative branch are depending on CBS for accurate data and information and CBS is extracting its information and definition from Wikipedia.org?
Could this be the reason for the drastic increase in Crime in Curacao, because it is being propagated by misaligned information sources probably found in wikipedia.org?

Most importantly; is CBS infiltrated by a wikipedia spy or a person who makes their additional earnings, gains or influences by promoting and marketing the importance of Wikipedia in Curacao?
The Minister responsible for CBS and ultimately The Prime Minister of Curacao needs to investigate this matter and then remove that person or group of persons or if need be the entire CBS staff and re-employ.
There should be zero tolerance on corruption of any kind or type in Curacao’s Central Bureau of Statistics; CBS, and having an employee do freelance work for wikipedia in any form or method for his/her or their benefits is unethical and should be criminal.
Can the World Bank Organization and other international governing and non-governing bodies, honestly depend on and trust Curacao's Central Bureau of Statistics; CBS.
