After waiting for more than a decade, Selikor will be receiving part of the payment that was owed to them!. Selikor is the largest provider of quality waste collection, recycling and disposal services to commercial and residential customers on Curacao. PART OF ELVIN GERARD STATEMENT: According to Curacao member of parliament: Mr. Elvin Gerard (political party PNP), Selikor will be getting part of the payment owed to them by part. During an interview he stated: “As you know I just got out of the thing dealing with Selikor for weeks. Looking at the quantity of calls that I get, Curacao is very dirty! And the second thing, where there is a lot of trucks that are damaged, where Selikor can not pick up the garbage on the date it was supposed to. Because there are vehicles, and their parts that are damaged. I understood from the director and the workers. That the problem is that they are not getting the money, which they have 12 years waiting for. It is being charged from the waste material (afvalstof), that is being subtracted (taxed/fee) from us (the people), to pick up garbage. I immediately went to do my homework. Internally I got to know, that it was true, that Aqualectra, via the receipt of Water and Electricity charges the waste material (afvalstof) for Selikor. The money is not coming to the account (bank) of Selikor directly. It goes to finance department. Ok, then, I continued doing my investigation, I asked the Minister to see, what was the agreement that they had in the management agreement (beheersovereenkomst), it resulted that they did not have it. But in any case, the money is the money of the government. In any case I continued, I sent a letter to the Minister of Health, Dr. Dorothy Janga, where I had some questions on this matter and I had a conversation about this with her as well and it came out then that the Syndicates also went on it (schakelt in).
