There were two types, there are meat that come cold from foreign countries and they need to be kept cold, what we call between 0 to 2 to 4 degree and there were meat that needed to be frozen at let's say -18 degree, all these meat had label, according to our covenant, that we have with the producers. And in that square, they need say when the meat were produced and when they expire.” He explain what what will happen, and continued: “We will continue with our control/inspections. Because of deferent reasons we can't reach full force. You could say that the controls are on a low.” When asked of this Supermarket have done such acts before, he explained: “For sure, we spoke with the owner that time excessively but it's not the first time that it has happened at Centrum. I think it is 5 or 6 years ago there were the same thing, where there were large quantity of meat. I remember those times that it became a whole worry on our island, where there were a lot of expired meat. So, they also were part of it, in those time.” What about the sanctions? He explained: “Via the criminal law (strafrechtelijke wet), you need to do it with the Public Prosecution Office (openbare ministerie) ets ets. There will come where eventually it will receive a fine (boet). Which means it is very complicated, it is a lot of work, so that the facto this man to get a fine because he fail, with 150 guilders.” Regarding the 150 guilders he said: “It is very low. Remember that it is a law of 1933 that we are talking about, which is hygiene.” He went further: “We are conscious of it, it is very low! But, we are working to change that management. It is very low. It is too low and the system on how you need to apply it, also is not good!” TRANSLATION: [Felicity: 10% - Fidelity: 90% ] OVERALL TRANSLATION: FELICITY:10% / FIDELITY:90% PAPIAMENTU/DUTCH : ENGLISH Fact Check: We strive for accuracy and fairness.
