LARGE INVESTMENTS IN ALTERNATIVE ENERGY IN CURACAO BUT CEO SAYS THEY TURN IT OFF DURING?
During an interview (December 9th 2020), the Curacao utility company CEO; Mr. Darick Jones explained why the windmills on the island were paralyzed and did not produced energy during the second time in 1 year and the third overall nationwide blackout in Curacao's history on December, 7th 2020.

WINDMILLS PARALYZED IN A BLACKOUT?
The CEO of Curacao's Utility company was asked; "How is it that the windmills needed to be paralyzed at the moment that blackout comes as the one we experience Mr. Jones?"
Darick Jones answered; "You know it is experience you get from the past. Sadly, I will need to say that in February also, we had a blackout like this. In February we put the windmills inside (stop the windmills) (hinka e mulinanan aden) from early on. That caused that the windmills for sure always produced energy/electricity but the quantity that they produce fluctuate at the moment that wind increase or decrease. When you are busy reestablishing the supply back, it is not a factor that would help to stabilize the network, it destabilize the network, the fluctuation that the windmills fluctuate in their production. So in this case, we opted to then to leave the windmills out, I believe we put the windmills in, around 6 o'clock to 6:30 in the afternoon as the last factor for us to put in, which is when you know that the network is stable. That is the difference, that this time where compared to last time, we did not put the windmills in".
IN BRIEF HOW TURBINES GENERATE ELECTRICITY?
Due to the aerodynamics wind turbines blades spins around when wind blows past, and The wind loses some of its kinetic energy and the turbine gains, The energy in the wind turns the blades around a rotor, which is connected to the main shaft, which spins a generator to create electricity. The amount of energy that a turbine generates is proportional to the area that its rotor blades sweep out and the longer the rotor blades, the more energy a turbine will generate, also if the wind blows twice as fast, there's potentially eight times more energy available for a turbine to harvest!
