Willemstad, Curacao. Just a few years ago, the Zika virus dominated the Curacao's population and an apparent slow response by Curacao's Ministry of Health may have contributed to an overall fall in touristic exponentials and indices in the years that proceeded. However; now lurking at Curacao's doorsteps and windows, is the full return of a plethora of mosquito borne diseases, that if the Ministry of Health; now under the control of Suzy Camelia-Romer; does not stand more attentive, alert and aware, in addition; to being more responsive to identify case zero and its network web, this could drastically affect tourism and the economy of Curacao; much like suffering a disastrous defeat worst than Anthony Joshua to Andy Ruiz Jr
Suzy Camelia-Romer has no education in medical sciences, whiles one of the nations apparent sharpest health inspectorate and doctor; seems to "have gone underground", after apparently having certain disagreements with the health minister. Many people worry that if Suzy Camelia-Romer handles or deals with Curacao's mosquito borne disease possible outbreak (epidemic), like how she did with dealing with Curacao's "roadway side drains"; whiles Suzy was the Minister of Traffic; then Curacao is doomed in Tourism, Healthcare and Social Welfare. Curacao has everything to worry about and more to lose, with the curacao at the doorsteps of a Curacao Depression after being in a recession for years, Unemployment rate at 21.1%, the Debt to GDP ratio above 53%, the incidence of Diabetes above 33% of population, one of the highest rate of Kidney Disease in the caribbean, and 1% of the Curacao population knowingly with HIV, so any further health shocks could be the one last droplet that pushes curacao into a spiralling pathway to an economic depression. Therefore; with increasing numbers of Aedes Aegypti and Aedes Albopictus becoming more common throughout Curacao neighborhoods, hence the cases of mosquito borne disease infection rates are possibly "behind the door" rising and at an inflexion point to breakout epidemic levels. This was especially noted when factoring the alarming number of illegals reported from venezuela and south america in Curacao; where Yellow Fever, Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika Viruses were all rampant! A word to the wise should be sufficient! A brief intro to the diseases and transmission follows.

YELLOW FEVER
Yellow fever is a viral infection leading to organ damage, specifically; hepatitis or other serious damages to the liverThe most common symptoms of the condition is  jaundice and fever which are associated to liver damage from the virus. Annually in the USA Yellow Fever kills about 15% of reported cases; however in Curacao.

Yellow fever is transmitted in most cases, when someone is bitten by an infected mosquito, however the virus can also spread directly through the blood via sharing needles.

Yellow Fever, is a disease caused by the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito and it is common in Latin America, South America and parts of Africa.

Changes in populations, larger cities, climate changes along with a decreasing immunity response may be the cause for the growing cases of yellow fever internationally. The World Health Organization reported that the risk of Yellow Fever in Latin America is the highest it has over the past half of a century.

Despite the development of a Yellow Fever vaccine the lack of immunization or low immunization rates have lead to outbreaks.

DENGUE
Dengue Fever is a very serious mosquito-borne disease comprised of four different strains.

Dengue is spread by a bite from an infected Aedes mosquitoes. Normally when a mosquito bites a person who has dengue fever the mosquito contracts the virus. Then if this infected mosquito bites a healthy person, the Aedes mosquito then infects the healthy person with the virus that causes Dengue.

If Dengue Fever is not treated promptly, or if another strain is contracted, a more severe disease case may evolve called, Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF); which almost always follow, resulting in death or permanent disabilities of the victim.

There are actually four (4) dengue virus strains, which is one reason why the search for a vaccine and for treatments has been more tedious. If an individual contracts a mild strain and then is  bitten by an infected mosquito with one of the other three (3) strains of the dengue viruses, for which the individual doesn't have an immunity from the additional virus strains. This will result in the individual becoming sick again from a more severe form of dengue fever.

The transmission of the dengue fever does not occur via personal contact. However in rare cases transmission can occur:
  • 1.) In a pregnant woman transmitting the disease to her unborn child
  • 2.) From infected donors via blood and organ transfusions.

CHIKUNGUNYA
Chikungunya is a virus that affects people and is transmitted by the bite from an infected Aedes aegypti or Aedes albopictus mosquito.

ZIKA
Zika is a virus that is spread initially through the bite of an infected mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti) or Asian tiger mosquitoes (Aedes albopictus). These mosquito are distinctive by the white stripes on their bodies and at the "appendage points" of the legs.  Only the female mosquito of this type feeds on blood and this normally occurs during the daytime.

Like in the case of Chikungunya and Dengue, when the mosquito bites someone who has the virus, then it becomes a carrier itself and the affected mosquito if it then bites a healthy person, that healthy person will contract the virus that causes Zika.
