Willemstad Curacao. The largest medical center and only hospital in Curacao; The St. Elisabeth Hospital (SEHOS), appeared to have initiated a change in its rates to "private patients".

PRIVATE RATES THAT WILL KILL YOUR POCKETS?
The SEHOS was established in 1855 and has been  operating for more than 163 years. The healthcare community reported that SEHOS increased its rates for private patients by approximately 25% and without knowing if the insurance agencies are agreeing on the increased rates. The patients do not know if they have to pay personally for those extra cost and charges involved.

SEHOS STAFF NOT HAPPY ABOUT JOB SECURITY
The staff of SEHOS laboratory briefly "laid down their work" on April 2nd 2019, because, they felt afraid of losing their jobs when the new hospital; Hospital Nobo Otrobanda (HNO), opens its doors.

JOB ASSURANCE
The minister of Health, Suzy Camelia-Romer, ensured that the workers jobs are guaranteed. However; it is unclear whether, and where the SEHOS laboratory staff will end up working.
One hospital worker, who preferred to remain anonymous said, "Suzy Romer, promised the same thing to the employees of the aviation company; InselAir. But, at the end of it all, InselAir went into bankruptcy and more than 170 Curacao people lost their jobs, and those people had mortgages to pay for, car payments to make, children to feed, clothe and take care of. I believe she don't care about anyone else except herself and "her selves"".
The hospital worker continued; "Now we all know why they put her in charge of the Ministry of Health, so what we think will happen? I will tell you; the government will sink deeper in debt and then go bankrupt! With Suzy and them in charge of anything, that's it, it is all over! We going back into slavery, watch for yourself, That's it!"

FUTURE ANALYTICAL DIAGNOSTIC CENTER (ADC)

For the Future it looks like more than 39 employees would have to be absorbed in the Analytical Diagnostic Center (ADC). However;  there are still discussions continuing with ADC towards planning and organizing things.

HNO CONSTRUCTION TURMOIL

In 2014, The Minister of Health, Environment and Nature ; gave The Foundation for Development of the Dutch Antilles; (SONA); the job of designing and building the HNO.
In 2017, After different problematic events, where Berenschot Consultancy fail to justify the spending of 3.5 Million guilders; which was paid in advance, SONA Director, Reginaldo Doran, announced that the expertise of Berenschot Consultancy were no longer needed for the construction of the HNO, the project continued under the supervision of AT Osborn

There were diverse financial and miscalculating misfortune for the island of Curacao's Healthcare and Finance.

In 2018, the construction of the HNO cost about 200 Million guilders extra, but previously it was recorded as; 421 Million guilders, hence; totaling 621 Million guilders.
The Initial 421 Million guilders was borrowed from the Dutch government for construction. The HNO has more than 4 years under construction and plans to open its doors later this year!
