Twitter: @JJosephaNews Regeringscommissaris Alida Francis heeft afgelopen vrijdag 8 april 2022 een contractovereenkomst getekend met Statia Construction N.V. voor de uitvoering van het waterafvoerproject op de luchthaven. STATIA LUCHTHAVEN Op het luchthaventerrein wordt een nieuwe afwateringsgoot aangelegd om het regenwater in het gebied tussen de brandweerkazerne, het Concordia-gebouw en de luchthaventerminal beter op te vangen. Het water wordt afgevoerd naar een nieuw bassin achter de dierenkliniek, waar het in de grond kan zakken. Het beoogde resultaat is om het zoete water op te pompen en te hergebruiken ten behoeve van de landbouw zonder verdamping en om de grondwatersituatie van Sint Eustatius in het algemeen te verbeteren. Het reguleren van de waterafvoer is dit jaar een van de aandachtsgebieden. Een van de projecten in dit verband is het Airport runoff en het erosieproject met als belangrijkste doel het hemelwater dat uit de omgeving komt beter te geleiden en te infiltreren. Het Openbaar Lichaam en Rijkswaterstaat werken samen aan dit project. De betrokkenen zijn: Regeringscommissaris Alida Francis namens het Openbaar Lichaam Sint Eustatius en, De heer Lopes heeft namens Statia Contruction N.V. (de Aannemer) het contract ondertekend. De documenten werden ook ondertekend door twee getuigen: Robert Landsbergen vertegenwoordigt RWS (Rijkswaterstaat) als Projectmanager, en Elvis Henriquez vertegenwoordigt het projectbureau PPMO in de hoedanigheid van projectmanager voor PPMO. Last Friday, April 8th, 2022, Government Commissioner Alida Francis signed a contract agreement with Statia Construction N.V. for the execution of the water run-off project at the Airport. STATIA AIRPORT A new drainage channel will be constructed at the airport site, to better collect the rainwater in the area between the fire station, the Concordia building and the airport terminal. The water will be drained to a new basin behind the veterinary clinic, where it can sink into the ground. The intended result is to pump up and re-use the fresh water for the benefit of agriculture without evaporation and to improve the groundwater situation of St Eustatius in general. Regulating the water run-off is one of the focus areas this year. One of the projects in this regard is the Airport runoff and the erosion project with the main purpose to better guide and infiltrate the rainwater coming from the surrounding areas. The Public Entity and the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat) are working in a joint effort on this project. Those involved are: Government Commissioner Alida Francis on behalf of the Public Entity St. Eustatius and, Mr. Lopes on behalf Statia Contruction N.V (the Contractor) signed the contract.
