On March 29, 2022, Mrs. Marylรจne Koelewijn, sworn in as a member of the Council for Law Enforcement (Gemeenschappelijk Hof van Justitie) by the President of the Joint Court of Justice, Mr. Mauritsz de Kort. CURACAO COURT OF JUSTICE “After having worked in the corporate world for a number of years, Marylรจne Koelewijn held various positions within (and outside) the Public Prosecution Service from 1995, most recently as Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor. From 2016 to 2022 she was also a committee member of the Dutch Commission of Oversight of the Intelligence and Security Services (CTIVD). The Law Enforcement Council is an international body with legal personality of Curacao, Sint Maarten and the Netherlands (as far as the BES islands are concerned). This body is charged with the general inspection of the organizations of the judicial chain – with the exception of the Joint Court of Justice – in Curacao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba. In doing so, the Board looks at the effectiveness, the quality of the performance of its duties and the management. Na een aantal jaren in het bedrijfsleven te hebben gewerkt, vervulde Marylรจne Koelewijn vanaf 1995 diverse functies binnen (en buiten) het Openbaar Ministerie, laatstelijk die van plaatsvervangend hoofdofficier van justitie. Vanaf 2016 tot 2022 was zij tevens commissielid van de Nederlandse Commissie van Toezicht op de Inlichtingen en Veiligheidsdiensten (CTIVD). De Raad voor de Rechtshandhaving is een rechtspersoonlijkheid bezittend interlandelijk orgaan van Curaรงao, Sint Maarten en Nederland (voor zover het betreft de BES-eilanden). Dit orgaan is belast met de algemene inspectie van de organisaties van de justitiรซle keten – met uitzondering van het Gemeenschappelijk Hof van Justitie – in Curaรงao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba. De Raad kijkt daarbij naar de effectiviteit, de kwaliteit van de taakuitoefening en het beheer.
