THE LAW HOLD A MINOR IN CUSTODY? By: JJosephaNews Reading Time: 1:00 mins. Twitter: @JJosephaNews Willemstad, Curacao. Authorities detained a 16-year-old boy who was brandishing a gun (apparently a firearm) near a hotel in Otrobanda on April 4th. THE END RESULT According to the police investigation, the hotel security staff surprised the young man as he was standing with the weapon in his hand. The police eventually arrested the child on suspicion of breaking the weapons law at the scene. After additional investigation, the weapon turned out to be an airsoft gun. The gun appeared to be real firearms, the weapon has been seized, and the child has been taken into custody. WHAT IS AN AIRSOFT GUN? Airsoft weapons are toy firearms that are used in airsoft games. They're a type of low-power smoothbore air pistol that's meant to fire non-metallic spherical projectiles known as "BBs," which are often made of plastic or biodegradable resin materials. In the past, airsoft was almost exclusively utilized for recreational purposes, but in 2012, US federal and state institutions adopted gas blowback (GBB) airsoft technology as an economical and reliable tactical training tool for close quarters fights. The US Coast Guard officially approved the SIG-branded P229 airsoft pistol for training in 2018. Fact Check: We strive for accuracy and fairness.
